Title:  Teacher's Aide or Assistant -   1 Position (Level 1or Level 2)

Center:  Dennis Burton Child Care Center

Reports to:  Center Director – Kristi Hogue

Status: Full Time - Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Description: 

The Teacher's Aide is mainly responsible for aiding the teacher in the classroom in whatever way needed.

The Assistant Teacher will work as the second in command in the classroom.  He/She will work closely with the Lead Teacher to ensure that the needs and goals of the classroom are met.

Essential Functions:

  • Visually observes and supervises children’s activities, reacting quickly on behalf of their health and safety.
  • Interacts with the children in positive, age-appropriate ways, encouraging, guiding, and at times leading or re-directing them according to the teacher’s lesson plans or alternatives.
  • Prepares supplies and the environment for the children’s activities.
  • Assists individual children who experience difficulty in the group or temporarily lose their physical or emotional control.
  • Assists with meal and snack service, presenting foods in a positive way, modeling healthy eating habits and pleasant dining experiences.
  • Assists with housekeeping and cleaning, sanitizing toys, maintaining safe equipment, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Assistant will act as Lead Teacher when Lead Teacher is unavailable.

Qualification/Requirements

Teacher's Aide:

  • Must be at least 18years of age and have HS Diploma/GED.
  • Ability to work until 6 p.m. daily required.
  • Must have basic reading/writing skills.
  • Minimum of 6 months previous experience working with children.
  • Ability to take direction and work as a member of a team.
  • Willingness to work with a variety of age groups and have a varied schedule required.
  • Ability to successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Teacher's Assistant:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age and have HS Diploma/GED in Toddler classroom.
  • Must have basic reading/writing skills.
  • Ability to work until 6 p.m. daily required.
  • Must have at least 1 year previous experience in a group childcare setting.
  • Ability to take direction and work as a team.
  • Willingness to work with a variety of age groups and have a varied schedule required.
  • Ability to successfully complete a post offer, pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Description:

The Lead Teacher serves as classroom leader by being responsible for the daily management of assigned classroom.

Essential Functions: 

  • Planning, supervising, and implementing appropriate daily activities for children.
  • Developing goals and objectives for individual children as well as the group
  • Responsible for all aspects of the classroom and classroom duties. 
  • Delegate and manage classroom effectively. 
  • Creative, resourceful, patient
  • Manage time and communication skills and be able to think on their toes.

Qualifications/Requirements: 

Must have EITHER

  • A Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education or related field from an accredited college or university, at least 2 years experience in early childhood education, and an Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development OR
  • A Bachelor degree in any field from an accredited college or university with 15 credit hours and grades of "C" or better in college level courses relating to the needs, skills, development, or teaching methods of children OR
  • a Child Development Associate Certification and at least 3 years experience in early childhood education.

Must be at least 21 years of age due to licensing requirements for an infant or toddler classroom.

Previous supervisory or Lead Teacher experience helpful but not required.

Title:  After School Youth Workers - Needed Immediately!!

Center:  After School Program - Miller and Earhart Elementary Schools

Reports to:  Program Director – Jackie Mize

Status: Part Time - Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Description:

The ASP Aide/Youth Worker will supervise children to assist them in achieving their individual goals while providing a fun and educational environment in which to learn, during the before and after school hours.

Essential Functions: 

  • Visually observes and supervises children’s activities, reacting quickly on behalf of their health and safety.
  • Interacts with children in positive, age-appropriate ways; encouraging, guiding, and at times leading or re-directing them according to the teacher’s lesson plans or alternatives.
  • Prepare supplies and the environment for the children’s activities.
  • Assists individual children who experience difficulty in the group or temporarily lose their physical or emotional control.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Must have HS Diploma/GED.

  •  At least 6 months previous experience in childcare, or working with children in a group setting.

  • Must be available to work Monday through Friday between the hours of 2:30p.m. and 6 p.m.
