Tippecanoe Child Care Downtown Opened in October 1998, this center was built close to the downtown bus depot to allow parents that need to use the buses for transportation, convenient access to child care. The space occupied by the center is leased from CityBus. Tippy Downtown is licensed for 78 children, ages 6 weeks through 6 years. Tippecanoe Child Care Downtown is licensed by the Family Social Security Administration, Division of Family and Children, the State Board of Health, State Fire Marshall and the State Children’s Nutritionist.

Program Highlights: Classroom computers for children ages 2 years and up. On the bus and trolley lines. On site therapy and consultation with GLASS and First Steps. Staff trained in CPR, 1^st Aid, Universal Precautions, Child Abuse, Positive Classroom Management, Developmentally Appropriate Practice, Curriculum, Health, Nutrition, Sanitation, Safety, and Child Development. Staff are offered continuing education. Lead teachers have at least a CDA. Growing Up Healthy Program on site. This is a joint venture with Ivy Tech. This program brings Early Childhood Students into classrooms to conduct developmental observations and screenings. This program also brings Nursing students to conduct physical assessments and monitoring of growth, nutrition, infection, and medication as needed.
